Milliman Benelux developed an interactive dashboard where users can dynamically compare SFCR data of non-life insurers in the Dutch market for the years 2016-2019. It summarizes data of individual insurers, provides an aggregated view on all the available non-life insurers, and a self-created peer group. The dashboard is built from publicly available data provided by De Nederlandsche Bank containing tables with disclosed data of individual insurers as part of their regulatory requirement to publish SFCRs. The dashboard covers 74 entities, which together compromise more than €14 billion of Gross Written Premiums in 2019. The market Solvency II ratio based on the entities in our dashboard varies between 167% and 175% in the covered period of 2016-2019.
The figure below is an example of the available visualizations in the dashboard. It shows an overview of the (distribution of) combined ratios of the 74 entities in our dashboard for the all lines of business (total), and separately for motor vehicle liability (motor), fire and other damage to property (property) and general liability (general). We can observe the improving combined ratios for general liability and motor vehicle liability, but the property combined ratios are more volatile over the years, following several large storms events in the recent years. We can also observe a large spread of the combined ratios among the different entities. More information on a lower level is freely available in the dashboard.
